Knit one, purl two, don't bug me—I'm knitting! Yes, the knitting bug bit me when I was just a youth, and all these years later, it still won't let go of me. Have I been knitting during the lockdown? You bet I have!
Back in the day, my growing sons gave me plenty of excuses for knitting... just one... more... sweater... But now the boys are all grown up and busy with their classes at our beloved hometown school—the University of Michigan (Go Blue!).
So where has that left this knitting mama? Well, I really only had one choice—knitting for other people's babies. And while I love knitting for any baby, I have been especially lucky to be able to knit for some very special children in Michigan Foster Care. I've made sweaters, blankets, booties, mittens, and hats, and I am just over the moon about it!
Now, I know not everyone is a knitting addict like me, but if you would like to donate store-bought items for foster children to use, check out the Foster Closet of Michigan. You can make a world of difference to some very awesome youngsters!
For me, knitting is like giving—it just never gets old.
"Oh, there you are, Albus,' he said. 'You've been a very long time. Upset stomach?' 'No, I was merely reading the Muggle magazines,' said Dumbledore. 'I do love knitting patterns." —J. K. Rowling
