Joy of Music

I have always been a big proponent of the arts: Music, painting, literature, theater, and other forms of creative expression. Exposure to art and music has filled my life with beauty and joy and an intensity that allows me to feel a connection to the Divine. Modern Jewish culture embraces this focus on art and music, and the psalms and scriptures are filled with references to musical instruments and singing.

Three years ago, I started on a journey of playing piano, and some of my greatest joys have been playing duets with my piano teacher.

We recently finished a piano piece by the composer, Clementi: Sonatina Opus 36 No. 1, second movement. I played the first movement of Clementi Opus 36. No. 1 earlier this year, which is a light-hearted movement played quickly using staccatos.

The second movement of the Clementi sonatina piece is played “Andante” which means moderately slow. It is filled with sweet chords and lilting rhythms, in contrast to the first movement.

One of my great desires is to share the joy of playing these pieces to uplift others. May your own lives be filled with the beauty of music.
